We're celebrating the 20th anniversary of one of the great classic baseball card sets, 1988 Topps. We're going through all 792 cards one by one, posting bits about what makes the card awesome and cool stats about the player or team featured on the card. We're also posting the 1988 Topps Traded set!

I had no idea that young Barry Bonds toiled for years in the Padres system. Methinks this is merely a pseudonym.
it's his superhero persona. Mr. Steels!
1988 isn't all that long ago, but let's transport Mr. Steels' factoid on the back of his card to today's NBA (because baseball players still aren't as low as football or basketball players as a whole). Would they reference James and his wife having a daughter or something like "James pays child support to 7 women for 9 children in a 5 state region."
i hope good ol' James never gets into trouble w/a zoo or Sea World. You know what the headline would be?
"STEELS STEALS SEALS"
