#560 Tim Wallach

Why this card is awesome: Because, hey look, more Expos in the background! In the first half of the set, I mentioned that a lot, but we haven't seen it in a while. Of course, given that Timmy himself played for the Expos, it somehow seems less interesting...

Cool stat: Wallach's 1987 was weird, as that year was weird for many players. For players with at least 123 RBI in a season, Wallach makes the top 25 for worst OPS+ in that season.

123 RBIs is a lot of RBIs for a guy to get in his only 100+ RBI season...

does that make sense? that could be a stat of the day

Since Wallach's single 100+ RBI season in 1987, the following non-active players have had more RBI in their only 100+ RBI season:

1) Ken Caminiti - 130 (1996)
2) Ellis Burks - 128 (1996)
3) Kevin Mitchell - 125 (1989)

Forty-eight players knocked in at least 100 runs in that 1996 season. That may seem like a lot, but it's not the most in a single season. See here: http://www.baseball-reference.com/pi/shareit/29ft.

I think batters might have been using something to enhance their performance during some of those seasons high on the list...

Wallach was on pace to drive in well over 100 in 1994 before Bud Selieg ruined everything.

Wallach is also (I have no "evidence" or "facts" to back this up so your just going to have to trust me) the most underrated player of all-time.
