#417 Mark Ciardi
Why this card is awesome: Because despite making the big leagues, that fact on the back about him being a part of a ski team in high school may be the best thing we can say about him.
Cool stat: In the 1980s, Mark Ciardi's 1987 was one of the worst seasonal ERAs. Actually, Joel McKeon's 1987 was even worse and we just saw his card recently.

5 of the 15 worst seasonal ERA performances occurred in 1987. If I remember correctly, 1987 overall saw a spike in HRs too.
I am actually impressed by that jaw line. I mean that is almost cartoonish.
You know, I didn't realize until recently that the old Brewers logo was an "M" and a "b." I always thought it was just a baseball glove. What an awesome logo!
I didn't realize that either, schmutt, for years and year. This card makes it quite clear. The old Expos logo was an M with an "e" and a "b" hidden in it...the E being for Expos and the B for, I think, baseball.
I wish the Brewers were allowed to go back to their old logo. I like that much better than their current "M" thing. Doesn't it have something to do with a rule stating that a baseball cannot be shown in the logo?
Mark: "C'mon DARSH! Are you afraid to ski!
Stan: "bring it on!"
Mark would have a better fact on his card now. He was part of the development/production group behind the recent pretty good sports movies "The Rookie" (Jim Morris) and "Invinceable" (Vince Papale). He also signs this card TTM if you send it.
Really, there's a rule that says a team can't have a baseball in their logo? I wonder why there would be such a rule?
I think it's so that nobody loses track of the real baseball by confusing it with the baseball that would be in the logo.
