Why this card is awesome: Because Brenly sure looks nervous. Later he became manager of the Diamondbacks, winning the World Series in 2001, his first year with the team.
Cool stat: Brenly had some pop. From 1984 to 1987, he had the 6th most homers among catchers.

Did this one come way early?
I think Brenly is a damn fine announcer also. Not a cubs fan, but I do catch some of their games on cable and Len and Bob are probably my favorite TV baseball announcing team.
Brenly: "Oh crap, looks like those guys from Clearasil again. Why won't they leave me alone?"
Brenly does postseason broadcasting from time to time and I much prefer him to the Buck-McCarver monster.
When is a team going to give Brenly a second chance at managing?!
