#356 Luis Aguayo

Why this card is awesome: Because of more dugout craziness. I see a couple of Phillies on the right, wearing their powder blue unis. But just who is that on the left? I'm going to assume it's a trainer, although it also looks a little like Jayson Stark.

Cool stat: Aguayo has the fewest RBIs all-time in a season with 12 or more homers. His RBI rate of roughly one every 10 at-bats is not so bad, but the Phillies were near the bottom of the league in BA that year and they just didn't get enough runners on base.

There weren't many ballplayers who can say they were signed by a future United States Senator.

There are a few who can say that they were no-hit by one; I'm pretty sure that Bunning was the first to throw a no-hitter in each league.

I looked at Aguayo's home run log from 1987, and he had one home run with a man on base that year, a two-run shot. A man named Glenn Wilson was standing on first base when Aguayo hit it.

Who is that in the dugout? Why it's Manny Trillo of course. But, to be fair, he is wearing a Jayson Stark mask and telling players they're overrated. That's why you probably got confused.

Way late here, but the Jayson Stark lookalike is most likely longtime Phillies assistant trainer Mark Andersen. No relation to Larry.

No problem with late comments--I get them all sent to my email so I can respond.
