Andy - I've been meaning to ask you, have you thought about carrying this project over to next year? A nostalgic tribute to '89 Topps would be awesome. What do you think?

Well, I will finish the 1988 set by the end of May. If I continue next year, it's not the 1989 set I would do but rather probably the 1979 set. there are a couple of reasons for this: the 1989 set is pretty crappy although it does have some nice rookies, and also because it's mostly the same players. I've written all these cool stats on guys, and I'd have to come up with cool stats on the same guys again. But 1979 Topps gives us mostly a totally different set of players. We'll see if I do it or not...depends a lot on my baby and my company.

Your right. You would be writing about the same players for the most part. I like '89, but '79 is certainly a better set and it will give you many different players to write about.

Anyway, thanks for what you've done with '88. Its been a great read to start the day.

Wouldn't 69 be better than 79? Isn't 69 ALWAYS better, regardless of what number is being compared to it? Then you could come back and do '80 in 2010, 1951 in 2011, 1972 in 2012...the possibilities are endless.

I was thinking about this today and am glad Andy's thinking about 1979 for next year. If he isn't offended by a copycat, perhaps someone else will do the 1969 set. To that end, the 1978 set is one of my favorites, so maybe somebody will do it this year.

1979 Topps is a great idea, it was the 2nd set I ever collected as a kid. I love the graphics, and of course all those cheesey uniforms the Astros, Pirates and Padres wore!
