
Why this card is awesome: Because of the weird red bat he's holding. This is also the first all-star rookie in the 1988 Topps set.
Cool stat: Devon White was a good choice for the all-star rookie team, although he was overrated. Devo tied for 5th most all-time seasons between 10 and 19 homers.

Its almost as if he had too good of a rookie season compared to the rest of his career.
It's true. Remember that 1987 was a screwy year for homers, because of the doctored baseball or somesuch. That may have had a profound effect on White's career. Maybe he focused too much on HRs and if he instead focused on getting on base, he could have been a massive offensive force. Not that he was a bad player, especially on defense.
He had good years in Toronto when they were winning championships. Devo was a good ballplayer, especially on defense running down everything in sight. His power #'s were overdone in 1987, but it's not like he was Dale Sveum.
This guy played forever.
