David Green had lots of talent, but never was able to stick.MMayeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09893007769493689849noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2327798346644458245.post-60610895310501881112008-09-18T22:27:00.000-04:002008-09-18T22:27:00.000-04:00I was a Cardinal fan in the 70's as a kid, so Ted ...I was a Cardinal fan in the 70's as a kid, so Ted Simmons being one of the best players through the decade was one of my favorites. Still, I never thought he was the equal of Johnny Bench; he was always second to Bench. He's more like Bert Blyleven or Tommy John. He had "comparable" career stats to some HOF catchers, but on a year-in year-out basis, Ted Simmons was not a HOF catcher.MMayeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09893007769493689849noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2327798346644458245.post-48249073290069241252008-09-18T12:20:00.000-04:002008-09-18T12:20:00.000-04:00Should be in the Hall, simple as that.Should be in the Hall, simple as that.Mike Shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17416797927724560496noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2327798346644458245.post-11875861617713912682008-09-17T20:33:00.000-04:002008-09-17T20:33:00.000-04:00I loved Ted Simmons. More surprisingly, why isn't it even a matter of discussion? His numbers are right there with the other great catchers.Johngyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18416011578421652629noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2327798346644458245.post-26877556920763001922008-09-17T17:27:00.000-04:002008-09-17T17:27:00.000-04:00Wow. The ironic thing is that that trade was a huge coup for the Brewers, netting them 3 key players of the '82 team.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14890227404131348324noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2327798346644458245.post-8357641827119612822008-09-17T16:32:00.000-04:002008-09-17T16:32:00.000-04:00His 1976 season sticks out like a sore thumb, I wo...His 1976 season sticks out like a sore thumb, I wonder what the deal was there.Jimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17911546348926892846noreply@blogger.com
