He seemed to flourish when MArtin was there, then Martin would leave and his stats would go down.Jimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17911546348926892846noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2327798346644458245.post-46524338513685668062008-07-18T14:55:00.000-04:002008-07-18T14:55:00.000-04:00Guidry remains underrated. The only player ahead of him that doesn't have a decent shot at the Hall is Saberhagen.

His 9 shutouts in 1978 is tied for 2nd most in the last 40 years.

Only 3 pitchers have won more Gold Gloves than him (Kaat, Gibson, and Maddux).

Guidry should have gotten more consideration for the Hall; he is a borderline candidate. Of course, his 170 career wins is pretty modest. With one two more healthier seasons, he might have gotten in.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14890227404131348324noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2327798346644458245.post-29401215934497210752008-07-18T11:08:00.000-04:002008-07-18T11:08:00.000-04:00Wow, what a season in '78 for guidry...His name sh...Wow, what a season in '78 for guidry...

His name should be mentioned more often when "yankee greats" are discussedLukehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15521371257268577443noreply@blogger.com
